CF Awareness Day on Parliament Hill

On Tuesday May 10th2016, the Northern and Eastern Ontario Regional staff assembled in our nation’s capital on Parliament Hill for a wonderful day of advocacy and awareness. The annual CF Awareness Day on Parliament Hill was led with the support of MP Scott Reid and his staff.  The initiative included Mr. Reid inviting all Members of Parliament to show their support for cystic fibrosis advocacy and awareness by way of wearing a yellow rose into question period on that day.

Attending this year were CF families, Josee, Michel and Sabrina Rochon (9 with CF) and Shawn, Casey and (their newborn with CF) as well Cystic Fibrosis Canada staff members, Sarah Blackstock (Associate, Advocacy),  Jennifer Nebesky (Chief Communications Officer) and Lois Graveline (Regional Executive Director). Everyone had the opportunity to meet with the supporting MP’s and introduce themselves.

A reception followed question period where MP’s learned more about Cystic Fibrosis Canada, the advocacy and awareness initiatives we lead and how they can get involved in each of their ridings.

Notable special guests at the reception were; the Minister of Immigration, John McCallum, the Leader of the Green Party of Canada, Elizabeth May as well as MP Sheri Benson who earlier during question period, along with MP Scott Reid, read a member statement asking for continued support.

Thank you to MP Scott Reid for organizing this effort in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada and cystic fibrosis awareness. We will continue to host this annual event on the Hill in hopes to continue this federal support across Canada!
