Hello Shinerama Nation!
We are so excited to announce the Shiner of the Month for June. We had plenty of excellent nominees, but one shiner really stood out: Jamie Green!
Jamie is a student at the Western Regional School of Nursing at Memorial University in Newfoundland. She has been solving several problems that the campaign has faced for several years, such as how they have never had enough volunteers for Shine Day. To remedy this, Jamie changed the long-standing Shine Day date to ensure that it didn’t conflict with prior commitments for nursing students. Jamie has also encouraged MUN students to hold fundraisers in their communities, as it is not always easy to bring everyone back to Corner Brook in the summer! Jamie has been making some great decisions to make the campaign more successful and to set it up for even greater success in the future.
Jamie has also made a massive effort to increase MUN Shinerama’s online presence (Follow along at @PocketFullOfMUNShine). She has also recently secured WestJet as a partner, who donated two tickets to wherever they fly as a raffle prize! Jamie also does an amazing job of raising awareness by speaking at elementary schools in the community to educate both teachers and students about cystic fibrosis and Shinerama.
Finally, Jamie has been willing to make the trip to Halifax all the way from Newfoundland to attend the Atlantic Regional Conference, ensuring that Newfoundland is represented (very well, we might add).
Congratulations Jamie and thank you for everything you’ve done! Keep your eyes on your mailbox because we’re sending you some fun stuff to thank you for your hard work.
Keep up the great work, Shinerama Nation; we can’t wait to recognize you next.
