In November, the Victoria Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic was presented with the Gold Award for the Evidence-Into-Practice Awards. Grant Hoffert is the Victoria Adult CF Clinic Coordinator who received the award, but did you know he’s also a CF Volunteer? Learn more about Grant below!
What’s your involvement with CF Canada (are you a volunteer, donor, event organizer, etc.)?
I work as a volunteer for our local chapter (Victoria), and assist in some of the organization of certain events.
What is your connection to CF?
I am the Victoria Adult CF Clinic Coordinator.
What has been the greatest highlight of supporting CF Canada for you?
It is always a privilege to support CF Canada in any way I am able to. As a clinician, I am aware of how the money raised goes to support not only research, but to our clinics as well. In fact, their backing allowed our clinic to conduct our Quality Improvement project – where we restructured our clinic to reduce the amount of time clients are waiting without a professional seeing them. Without CF Canada, this wouldn’t have been possible.
Why do you think it’s important to support CF Canada?
It is important because CF Canada supports research towards a cure, and ensures quality care for CF clinics across the country. They also ensure we are regularly able to attend education conferences for CF, such as the North American CF Conference. For me personally, I want to give back to what I see as a world class organization that does everything it can to meet its stated goal – a world without CF. And they do it well.
What will #aworldwithoutCF mean to you?
It means that all of the interesting, determined people I work with on a daily basis would be able to live out their dreams free from all the routines, stresses and anxiety that they live with. It also means I will be looking for a new job -which would be the best day of my professional life!
