Comprehensive treatment programs have dramatically extended the lives of people with CF. Today, half of all Canadians with cystic fibrosis are expected to live into their 40s and beyond.
Since Canadian researchers discovered the gene responsible for cystic fibrosis in 1989, international research has brought us closer to a cure. The current pace of CF research suggests there is real optimism for the future.
