More than 4,000 Canadians live with cystic fibrosis. Each week, two children are diagnosed and one person dies from this devastating disease.
Since 1960, Cystic Fibrosis Canada has invested more than $140 million in world-leading research and care. As a result, Canadians with cystic fibrosis are now living longer. Today, more than 60 percent of Canadians with this disease are adults who are courageously facing a new series of challenges. But there is much more to do. Too many young lives are cut short by cystic fibrosis; half of the sufferers who died in 2010 did not live to see their 26th birthday.
May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. Join us in telling the compelling stories of Canadians with cystic fibrosis and those of the remarkable CF community of family, friends, healthcare professionals, researchers, donors, volunteers and champions who support them.
