Cystic Fibrosis Canada is pleased to announce that Dr. Valerie Waters (The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto) and her Canada-wide team of investigators have been awarded a two-year, $170,000 grant to investigate transmissible Pseudomonas in the Canadian CF population. One quarter of adults with CF in Ontario are infected with a strain of Pseudomonas that spreads from person to person and is associated with grave health outcomes. This multi-center research study will define the magnitude of the problem of transmissible Pseudomonas in Canada and how to best control its spread. Findings will inform future health care practices and infection control policies. Read more about Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s infection control policy and transmissible Pseudomonas.
