This is the 9th Annual Ride for the Breath of Life motorcycle ride and poker run in support of cystic fibrosis. The Ride starts and ends at Mr. Mikes Steakhouse in Airdrie, AB. What We’re Funding
Cystic Fibrosis Canada funds research projects with the greatest potential to advance our understanding and treatment of cystic fibrosis and improve the quality of life for CF patients. Our research programs focus on eight fundamental areas, in addition to targeted programs and partnerships, and training awards. Impact: Attract, train and retain current and next generation leaders in CF research.
Impact: Lead to personalized therapies for cystic fibrosis based on an individual's genetic make-up.
Impact: Derive new insights into the nature of inflammation and design of novel treatments for CF lung disease.
Impact: Identify treatments that correct protein activity, eliminating or ameliorating the symptoms of cystic fibrosis.
Impact: Improve patient-centered care, understand the complexities of cystic fibrosis, and understand factors leading to increased survival.
Impact: Provide new avenues to slow progressive lung tissue damage and delay CF lung disease - the main cause of illness and death in cystic fibrosis.
Impact: Advance CF knowledge and treatment by leveraging funds with partner organizations and institutes, and assembling teams of CF experts to spearhead novel research programs.
Impact: Understand the dynamic interactions of microbes in the CF lung in order to identify new therapies that will reduce and prevent lung "flare-ups".
