ABOUT THE WALK
Why should I participate in the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History?

We rely on the generous fundraising efforts of our walkers, donors, partners, and volunteers who can help realize our vision of a world without CF. The money raised from the walk funds new research lab discoveries, develops new treatments and invests in quality of improvement for CF care. Where can I find information about my walk location?

Information about all walk locations can be found on the walk location page. If you have additional questions you can to reach out to your walk coordinator, whose information will be listed on the location page.

I have CF or am bringing someone with CF. Can we participate in the walk?
  1. The Cystic Fibrosis Canada Infection Prevention and Control Policy will be in effect at all walk locations. Some walk sites provide self-identifying bandanas for walkers with CF. Contact your walk coordinator to find out if these are available at your local walk. For more information about the infection control policy, please click here.

Registration
Do I have to register for the walk?

Yes, in order to attend a walk, you must register as a walker. 

How do I register?

From this page, click on the “Register” button at the top of the website. This will guide you through the registration process.

Can I use my registration username and password from previous years?

Yes.  To use your previous username and password click here and login with your existing username and password.  Once you have logged in, you will be automatically redirected to register for this year's walk. 

How can I retrieve my username or password?

Click here and select 'Forgot Username or Password'.  Enter your information and your username or password will be sent to you via email. 

How do I create a team or become a team captain?

During the registration process, you will be asked if you would like to “Register as an individual”, “Join a Team” or “Start a Team”.  Click “Start a Team”. When starting a team, you will automatically be the captain of your team and can choose your team name. 

How do I join an existing team?

During the registration process, you will be asked if you would like to “Register as an individual”, “Join a Team” or “Start a Team”. Click “Join a Team” and you will be able to search for an existing team name or team captain’s name and join their team. 

Can I register on walk day?

We strongly encourage all walkers to register online.  This allows for a quick registration or money drop off on walk day and helps ensure you receive a t-shirt.  If you need to register on walk day, please visit the registration table with your completed pledge form or fundraising results form. 

I can't attend a walk in person or there is no walk in my community, can I still fundraise?

We have created virtual walks for those who cannot physically attend a walk sire, but would still like to fundraise for the cause.  When registering, simply select the virtual walk in your province and start fundraising! 

Can I bring guests to the walk?

Any children aged 2 and under can be added in as a guest on your registration.  Please note that if you add your child as a guest, they will not receive a t-shirt, lunch, etc. If you want your child to receive these things, please register them as a walker.  Everyone over the age of 2 must be registered as a walker. 

Personal Fundraising Homepage
What is the personal fundraising homepage?

The fundraising homepage is where you can keep track of your online and offline donations, reach out to your network to get donations, thank your supporters, update your personal fundraising page and more!  

How do I login to my personal fundraising homepage?

Click the “Login” button at the top of the www.cysticfibrosis.ca/walk homepage.  Enter your username and password to access your personal fundraising homepage. 

How do I ask my network for support?

Once logged in, click the “Get Donations” button from the menu on the left of your screen. This will allow you to send an email to your contacts or share a link to your personal fundraising page through social media. You can also ask your friends and family in person for donations. Don’t forget to tell them why you are raising money.

How do I update my personal message?
  1. Once logged in, click the “Personal Homepage” tab from the menu on the left of your screen. Scroll down to view or edit your personal message.
I received a cash donation, how do I add it to my online fundraising total?

Once logged in, click “Manage Cash and Cheques” from the menu on the left of your screen. Enter your donor’s information in the fields provided and click “Add Donation” This will add your offline donations to your online fundraising goal.

What should I do with cash and cheque donations?

Cash and cheques can be brought with you on walk day.  Please complete a pledge form and visit the registration area when you arrive.

One of my donors gave me a cash donation but I would like to pay for it on my credit card. How do I ensure my donor gets a receipt?

Click “Manage Cash and Cheques” and enter your donor’s information. After clicking “Add Donation”, a grey box will appear at the bottom listing the donations you have entered and asking if you would like to “Delete”, “Edit” or “Pay”.  Click “Pay” and you will be able to enter your credit card information and your donor will receive a receipt in their name.

How do I thank my donors?

From your personal fundraising homepage, click “Personal Supporters” then ‘Email Your Supporters’ You can use the pre-generate message we have created for you or personalize the message before sending it to your supporters.

Team Fundraising Homepage
How do I login to my team fundraising homepage?

Click the “Login” button at the top of the cysticfibrosis.ca/walk homepage. Click the “Team Homepage” button on the left hand side to see your team’s fundraising homepage.

How can I encourage people to join my team?

Once logged in, click the “Get Team Donations or Teammates” button on the left hand side. This will allow you to send emails to your network. You can use the pre-generated message provided or personalize it yourself.  Scroll down the page to share your team’s fundraising page through social media channels.

How do I add cash and cheques to my team’s online fundraising total?

Once logged in, click “Team Cash and Cheques” under the “Team Homepage” tab on the menu. You can enter your donor’s information here. If you would like to pay for this donation using your credit card, after you have clicked “Add Donation” scroll to the bottom and click the “Pay” button in the grey box.  This will allow you to pay for the donation with your credit card while having a tax receipt issued to your donor.

How do I thank my team’s supporters?

Only team captains can thank your team’s supporters. Once logged in, click the “All Team Donations” button from the menu.  Click “Thank Your Team Donors”. This will let you send an email directly from our website to your supporters. You can use our pre-generated message or personalize it yourself.

Why do I have a team fundraising page and a personal fundraising page?

When you start or join a team, you have access to both a personal fundraising page and a team fundraising page.  Some walkers prefer to fundraise under their own name, and some prefer to pool their efforts and fundraise with their team.  If you wish to collect donations under your name, please use the ‘Personal Homepage’ tab on your online fundraising homepage, if you wish to fundraise with your team, please click the ‘Team Homepage’ tab.

How do I move a donation from my team’s fundraising page to my personal fundraising page?

If a donor mistakenly donates to your team rather than to you personally, please have your donor send an email to walk@cysticfibrosis.ca and we will move the donation.

Online Donations
How do I search for the person or team that I would like to donate to?

Click the “Donate” button from the homepage.  Select if you would like to donate to a participant or team.  You can then search by either the walker’s name or the team name.

How do I make a general donation to the walk?

Click the “Donate” button from the homepage. Click “General Walk Donations” and enter your information.

Why should I make a self-donation?

Self-donations show that you are invested in raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Canada and sets the bar for your fundraisers to donate a similar amount.  You are given the option to make a self-donation during the registration process and can also make one at any time through your personal fundraising page.

How do I receive a tax receipt?

All online donations of $20.00 and over will automatically receive a tax receipt to the email address you provided.  If you did not receive your tax receipt or would like to receive one for a donation less than $20.00, please contact us at walk@cysticfibrosis.ca.

I lost my tax receipt, how can I get another copy?

Please contact us at walk@cysticfibrosis.ca and we would be happy to help you. 

Cash and Cheque Donations
Where do I take my cash and cheque donations on walk day?

Cash and cheque donations can be taken to the registration area on walk day. Please bring a completed pledge or your fundraising results form, which includes your donors’ complete information (address, postal code, email address, etc.) and your contact information in order for them to be receipted.

When will my donors receive their tax receipts?

Due to the volume of donations that we receive on walk day, it can take up to three months from walk day to send tax receipts. If you have not received your tax receipt by this time, please contact us at walk@cysticfibrosis.ca

Will my cash and cheque donations appear on my online fundraising homepage?

If you would like your cash and cheque donations to appear on your online fundraising homepage, enter the donations in the “Manage Cash and Cheques” section of your personal or team fundraising homepage. If you have not entered them in this section, they will not be added to your online totals.

What do I need to bring with me on Walk Day?

Remember to print your Fundraising Results Form. By printing and filling out the form in advance, you’ll make your check-in faster and easier. Don’t forget to bring it along with any cash and cheque donations

To print this form; login to your fundraising homepage and click ‘Personal Homepage’ Then click ‘Pledge & Fundraising Results Forms’.  Select the fundraising results form and it will be emailed to your inbox.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
What should I do if they are calling for rain/thunderstorm on walk day?

It’s raining on walk day! What should I do?

Please check for any weather updates on your walk location page here: http://www.cysticfibrosis.ca/walk/find-a-walk-location. As many of the Walks will continue in the rain, ensure that you come to the walk prepared for the weather!
