Cystic Fibrosis Canada is well-known for funding impactful research, including the discovery of the cystic fibrosis gene and many other important advances. We’ve invested more than $200 million in cystic fibrosis research since 1960.

But did you know that CF Canada staff are significant contributors to academic knowledge as well?

The Journal of Cystic Fibrosis recently released a list of its most-cited publications since 2019, and CF Canada staff are authors on five of them. Chief Scientific officer Dr. John Wallenburg is an author on one paper, and Registry Director Stephanie Cheng and Research Program Director Dr. Paul Eckford are authors on two papers each. Dr. Eckford was lead author on one of these, a paper on the CF Canada-Sick Kids Program in Individual CF Therapy (CFIT), which is generating in-vitro and genetic tools to predict individual clinical outcomes.

In addition to funding the work of others, the experts on our team contribute to internationally-recognized advancements in cystic fibrosis science and care. They serve as principal investigators or co-investigators, driving impact in the field of cystic fibrosis in addition to our mission-driven programs and advocacy work.
