May is finally here and it’s one of the most exciting times of the year as it is cystic fibrosis awareness month! We are happy to kick off this month with a lot of opportunities for you to get involved!
Here is what you can do this month to help us raise awareness and funds, as well as advocate for people living with CF:
The Walk to Make CF History
On May 27th, thousands of Canadians will be attending the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. They will be walking for a cure or control for CF in over 70 locations across Canada and virtually. Join in making a difference for people living with CF!
There are also many ways to get involved in the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History:
- Participate in a walk or virtual walk;
- Sponsor a walker;
- Raise awareness and funds on social media;
- Volunteer through your local Cystic Fibrosis Canada chapter.
Walk with us on Sunday, May 27, 2018. To register, visit cysticfibrosis.ca/walk
Access to Medications
This May, we are launching one of our biggest advocacy campaigns yet. And we need your help.
We want to send a strong, clear message to the government that access to medication is an issue we will not be silent about. Together, we can help every Canadian with cystic fibrosis access the medication they need to improve their lives, starting right now with Orkambi. Cystic Fibrosis Canada will tell the government that we need them to make the right decision and make the drug “Orkambi” publicly accessible. It’s been two years since the drug was approved by Health Canada and while evidence shows how beneficial this drug is, many who need this drug can’t afford it.
Help make all the difference for people who need Orkambi. They need more than hope. They need your voice. Join us here: https://bit.ly/2FxZuCl
In addition to our advocacy efforts, we also want to increase our shared voice. This campaign will be all about hope. Hope is something everyone with CF and everyone who loves them is familiar with. We will be sharing video messages of hope from our community on our social channels throughout this month.
Now, we are calling on you to participate as well. Whether you hope that your CF partner can travel to Iceland with you or that you hope you can keep jogging, create your own video about your hopes and share it online! Do not forget to tag us on social media!
Let’s be vocal, let’s tell everyone what we are hopeful for and why we need to take action now by telling the government to help those living with cystic fibrosis!
