Volunteer Week letter from Kelly Grover

April 20, 2020

Dear Cystic Fibrosis Canada Volunteers:

This week has been designated as “National Volunteer Week”, when the tremendous contributions of Canada’s volunteers are recognized from coast-to-coast.

2020 marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. In the late 1950’s, a group of parents of children with cystic fibrosis (CF) banded together to unite in a common cause. These pioneering volunteers contributed countless hours and put in their own financial resources to launch this organization in 1960.

We are proud to carry on that work today and could not do so without the contributions of thousands of volunteers, like you, from across Canada. Our volunteers include people living with cystic fibrosis, their families and friends, community members, Kin Canada members, Lawn Summer Nights organizers and participants, and students from universities and colleges participating in Shinerama.

We are so grateful for all that you do to help improve the health outcomes for people diagnosed with cystic fibrosis in Canada. Indeed, we have come a long way, and the prognosis for children born with cystic fibrosis today is so much better than it was 60 years ago. Having said that, our work is not done and we will continue to need everyone’s support to ensure that we continue to improve the length and quality of life for all Canadians with cystic fibrosis.

To our volunteers across the country, we send you a special THANK YOU this week. We may not be able to celebrate together at our spring events as we normally do, but please be assured that we appreciate your support!

With great thanks,

Kelly Grover
President and CEO
