Céline Dion
Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s Celebrity Patron

International superstar Céline Dion has been committed to the fight against cystic fibrosis for more than 30 years.

Céline’s commitment to finding a cure or control for cystic fibrosis is marked by real life tragedy. Céline’s niece, Karine, passed away from cystic fibrosis at only 16 years of age. At the time, Céline promised Karine that she would continue the fight against cystic fibrosis, a vow she has kept to this day.

A long-time champion and Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s Celebrity Patron, Céline has raised her voice as part of many of Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s campaigns. Most recently, Céline advocated for Canada-wide cystic fibrosis newborn screening. In a series of public service announcements, she called on Canadians to raise their voices to urge legislators to support CF newborn screening which leads to longer, healthier lives. Céline’s efforts were integral to the adoption of cystic fibrosis newborn screening in Newfoundland and Labrador.

In addition to promoting public awareness of the CF cause, Céline generates significant funds for CF research and care, and has generously donated her appearance fees from several concerts and guest appearances to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Thanks to Céline’s outstanding support over the past three decades, and the generosity of our dedicated donors, partners and volunteers, steady progress is being made in CF research and care that is improving the lives of Canadians living with this devastating disease.
