Volunteer Spotlight

Jean hodgins

Winnipeg Walk

Why am I so happy volunteering for the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History? Let me tell you my story. I've been volunteering with the walk since it was called The Cystic Fibrosis Moonwalk.  I've seen the walk change and grow.  Having all the families come out to an outdoor event is something amazing.  To see the smiles and the laughter on the children’s faces, knowing that for that one moment in time they are happy. They’re not thinking about the daily struggles that they endure. For those few hours they are happy, giggling, laughing. I will continue to volunteer so that one moment in time can last a lifetime and CF will stand for Cure Found.

Voula Verigin

Vancouver Walk

My name is Voula Verigin, I have volunteered with the Cystic Fibrosis Chapter for a few years now, most recently taking on organizing the walk with other volunteers.  The reason for stepping into the role of volunteering with the chapter is really one thing, my son Hudson.  Hudson was diagnosed with CF at the age of 3, once the news and shock of what this disease is sunk in, I decided that I would not stop helping or fundraising for the CF community until a cure is found.  I not only do this for my child I think of all the other CF patients as I take time to plan an event or help out the chapter.  I will always use my skills and be available to help any way I can for the CF community and won’t stop until CF stands for cure found.

Claude vachon & Anne-marie tremblay

Saguenay Walk

Claude and I have been cystic fibrosis volunteers for 19 years.  We are the coordinators for the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History and the Dooly’s Golf Tournament in northern Chicoutimi.  We organize the walk with an amazing gang of parents and friends who also volunteer their time for the same reason and with the same goal in mind – to find a cure for our children.  By walking, we hope to raise awareness about this terrible fatal disease and raise the most amount of money possible for CF research.
