Dr. Eckford holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Guelph and has spent most of his career studying cystic fibrosis. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Christine Bear at the Hospital for Sick Children, studying the function of purified reconstituted CFTR protein and its interaction with CFTR modulator drugs, before moving into a leadership role managing several multi-investigator CF projects at SickKids, including the CFIT Program (Cystic Fibrosis Canada-SickKids Program in Individualized Therapy). Dr. Eckford joined Cystic Fibrosis Canada as Program Director, Research, in June 2021 where he helped to develop the organization’s new research strategy, Momentum, and managed all research programs including the organization’s annual research funding competition, before assuming the role of Chief Scientific Officer.
On Saturday, May 25th, 2024 the South Saskatchewan Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Canada is proud to be hosting their 40th Annual Ride for the Breath of Life.
