Cystic Fibrosis Canada is pleased to welcome four new directors to our board, as well as the appointment of a new chair. 

Barbara Hill is in her third term as director and has recently been elected into the role of chair. Barbara is President of the Grenview Group, a strategic global business advisory and executive coaching firm, built on 30 years of extensive leadership and business management experience in healthcare. Previously, Barbara had a successful corporate career holding many senior positions including President and GM of Baxter Canada. She has been a member of the Board’s Finance Committee and recently chaired our Governance Committee. 

John Bennett joins CF Canada as a director, having been active with the organization since his son John was born with CF in May 2010 and is the current Newfoundland chapter president. John is a Customer Success Manager with Verafin, one of North America’s leading Anti-Money laundering software companies. Based in St. John’s, Nfld, John has also worked in the financial services sector with RBC and Investors Group and in the public sector with the Government of Nova Scotia. 

New director Karen Corraini, is based out of Vancouver, BC, where she is a corporate/commercial lawyer with more than 35 years of experience in the life sciences, healthcare and technology sectors. In 2015 she established Corraini Law Corporation, where she currently works with a variety of tech-based clients, throughout their various lifecycle events, including providing counsel on strategic partnerships and licensing. Karen has worked with Cystic Fibrosis Canada for more than 25 years, beginning in 1996 while at CBDN, where she established and managed a dynamic multi-party university/government/industry research collaboration. Since 1999, she has worked with CF Canada on a volunteer basis, assisting on matters involving partnerships and/or licensing. 

Director Aleka MacLellan, from Halifax, NS, is a Principal Consultant at Kilberry Leadership Advisors, a firm of management psychologists that provides assessment and development services to boards, CEOs, investors and key corporate leaders. Leveraging her psychological insight and business experience, Aleka identifies and develops leaders, teams, and organizational cultures in a diverse range of sectors across the globe. Aleka has been volunteering with CF Canada for over a decade, previously serving as the National Chair for Shinerama. She also sat on the Volunteer Advisory Committee for Lawn Summer Nights and the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History.  

New director Tim Trussell is the Chief Operations Officer at AIR Resilience Inc., a company specializing in mental fitness. Tim has expertise in the business application of technology, big data and data science across multiple industries and has a passion for growing the novel use of technology in health and human performance. Tim and his family have closely followed CF Canada’s work, with its focus on research and bringing access to life-changing treatments to so many with cystic fibrosis. They have attended many CF events in Atlantic Canada and are long-term donors to the organization.
